sewing season

The woman behind the counter of the sewing store where I was buying supplies on Sunday said that sewing season was about to start again. Apparently, "regular" people have summer off. Admittedly I sew more in winter because it's cooler (I get surprisingly hot when slaving over a hot sewing machine) - but I don't have all summer off - what if I needed a new shirt?? Do these people tell themselves no no, you'll have to wait until the autumn leaves start falling before making those pants. You can't sew summer stuff in winter, it would be all wrong. Perhaps these are home parents, who can only sew when the children are at school. But personally, I sew when the inspiration hits, regardless of the season.

kitty is chewing my cyclamen

He severed 4 leaves fromt the plant – didn’t eat them. And, strangely enough, he doesn’t seem to like chives. Need to get him some catgrass.

tea leaf disposal

this is my only problem – at work, I don’t have a garden to swish the leaves into. I do have a window but I’m scared I may scald an unsuspecting gardener – OHS issues. I did see a very cool thing this morning on treehugger which I think would work much better than the thing that I have (which I keep forgetting to use)

balloons, music, cheese and wine

I made heaps of ice and nobody asked for any. The children loved the red garage. I put out all the chairs I own, in various rooms, and everyone chose to sit on the floor in the lounge room. My brother got the time wrong and turned up after everyone else had gone home. But all in all, it went well. Glad I finally got around to it.

last night I parked in a disabled parking spot

seriously, I’ve never done that before, I always feel too guilty. But I was running late to pick up my Indian takeaway, I’d already driven once around the block, it was raining, and I was only going to be a minute. But I still felt guilty.
