miss golden brown

Wool, linen, taffeta, lace, some sort of lycra - these all happened to jump out at me at the op shops on Friday, in all shades of warm brown and gold and burnt toffee. So I spent all day today playing with some of my favourite colours - and these scarves are the result. That and Margaret Fulton's roast lamb with two heads of garlic which is just about ready to eat...

plain old rectangles

cards

After an exhausting day of running errands and thrifting and haircuts and so on, it seems all my crafting brain could cope with tonight was rectangles. No overlapping, no embelliishment, just rectangles. And now I'm going to bed - goodnight!

morning walk

To prove I do go for the occasional morning walk, here is a photo of the view. This is Tabletop mountain, as seen from Picnic Point. One day, I should go have a Picnic on Tabletop... Normally I just settle for the view - this spot is only 15 minutes walk from my house - and sometimes I don't even stop and look at the view - but it is a good spot to pause to stretch the old hamstrings. This morning when I got there, there was a young couple wrapped up together in a blanket, with pillows and coffee - obviously they had gotten up extra early to watch the sunrise together. Awwww...

So here's a bouquet to say thank you all, my days are ever brightened by all the inspiration and bloggy love. So some relatively recent, relatively local finds that make my day are PetalPlum, Blossom Creations and Fii.

And thank you all for stopping by.

blue cards

I made these cards today, from the box of little pieces that I keep - leftovers, bits that are too small for anything else. I may be turning into my nanna - soon I will be saving string... I can see one of my new favourite shirts, a hem from one of my nanna's old dresses and denim from recent aprons. The big fish in the middle is a donation from Kim who saves all her leftovers for me, and there are also leftovers from Lyssy May - see, I have a reputation as a fabric garbage can... Anyway, these cards and some others in different colourways are now listed on madeit. And while you're there, check out this arty shopping tote and this belly button.

first day of autumn

playing with velvets
Originally uploaded by djbebe
I love cool weather - and I feel winter is on its way. Yesterday I had the first porridge of 2008. Still warm enough to eat outside though. And I got into the craft room and played around with velvets and wools and other warm fuzzy fabrics. I'm building a stockpile of scarves on the off-chance that I'll get organised enough to do a stall at the local craft markets before winter actually arrives.
